We used to carry out maintenance and repaint the chlorine room at least 3 times a year because it is an extremely aggressive environment for metal. The following products are stored and dosed there: fluosilicic acid, activated carbon, polyaluminium chloride, calcium hypochlorite and calcium hydroxide. All of them are highly corrosive. We installed Rustless Technology in the chlorine room at ETA I in December 2015. Since then, we have carried out only one repainting, which remains in place to this day, 28/05/2020.
We already had a strong commitment to social and environmental issues, but our certifications required us to meet even more demanding environmental and sustainability standards. Rustless Technology has brought the future into the present. We are very pleased with our partnership and today we actively advocate for this technology.
We dry-docked 2 vessels and painted both with the same coating. We then returned them to the water and, six months later, took them out again. The difference between the vessel without the Rustless device and the one fitted with Rustless devices was striking. The vessel without the device showed corrosion, while the vessel equipped with it showed no corrosion. We also observed a reduction in marine growth on the hull. I strongly recommend the use of Rustless technology.
